And the story...

My friend Luce wanted to make a Naruto group for the Epitanime convention. At this time, I hadn't read Naruto yet, but as I had no cosplay plans for this convention, I took a look at the female characters. Honestly, the costumes didn't really appeal to me... Only Kurenai's outfit caught my eye: I thought making this costume would be an interesting challenge.
Making this costume was indeed a challenge. The shape was so strange that I couldn't use any pattern. I had to take a lot of measurements to make the white bands, and as I'm a little obsessed by apparent seams, I didn't want to put a zipper on the side of the costume. It took me forever to adjust all the bands until they fitted perfectly, and it also took me a long time to sew them all together by hand. Really, this part of the costume was a pain to sew X__X Fortunately, the rest was rather easy. I only had to ask a friend (Nelene) to sew the sleeve for me because I was having trouble with it. Concerning the headband, it's too large, because I bought it too late and all the small ones were sold out... I deeply regret it, because this one was really too big for my head. The wig too isn't very accurate. I really love this wig, but I wish I had found a better wig for this character ^^; (oh and by the way, please do not pay attention to the puffy eyes and the recurrent pose on the pics, it was definitely not a good day for me. >_> )
Speaking of the group, it was huge! We were something like 40 people on stage! ^^ I'm glad I was part of this group, the atmosphere between us was excellent, I met a lot of people and we had a lot of fun on stage. Plus, we made the group before the Naruto cosplayers invasion, and as we had many characters that were not often done, the audience liked the group. ^^
